the mic is clear and easy to use/remove. Black velvet seems nice on first inspection but i see them as a hard to clean dirt trap.
It should be a 25-30 dollar product, at that level its flaws would be forgiven, at 50. not so much.
Mainly the problem is the asking price. The sound quality is also middling, at about a 30 dollar range, it doesn't get near the hd497's which were a 50 dollar set of headphones that i compared them to.
The issue is the build quality, from low resolution pics you cannot see the big plastic seams and shoddy design under the head band piece which inspires little confidence, it feels flimsy. It also exerts too much pressure, so it can get tiring to wear, and oddly enough, even with hinges it cannot be worn with one ear cup off to the back/side for monitoring sound and such for when you don't feel like being isolated, it just exerts too much pressure when one ear cup is off, the inflexible headband doesn't twist well as it is a box of plastic.
For gaming they do however work fine. If you can get a good price it will do.
I bought my 10 year old the same set as well and we are playing UT3 and L4D all the time with these. The mic is good but it could be a little clearer.
With the addition of EAX is actually amazing. Sound quality is great.
Worn these for hours of gaimng with no discomfort. Can hear clearly where everything is from all directions.
Extremely comfortable. If you have a deep voice like me, you need to speak very clearly or else people will say your mumbling.

Pros;-Comfortable to wear, and resistant to body perspiration.-Sound quality is fantastic for this price range. However, there is NO USB CONNECTOR. (shure earbuds), or my apple ones that set me back [.]. shures, and the $[.]. Awesome for the casual, and hardcore gamer. iPhone headphones I have both don't work as well as this headset designed for computers.-The headset has a very long cord, which is great because I looped it around my computer and eventually hooked it up in the back for even better sound. I can hear things clearly, and the speakers have good fidelity.-Contains noise cancellation technology so that there's absolutely no hysterisis, ironically the $[.]. (-0.5 star)I have to say overall these headphones are way better than my previous speakers, that I bought for $[.].
:)Cons;-Extended wear the phones press kinda hard on your ears, and the adjustment on the sides do not alleviate the issue. (-0.5 star)-Comes with a microphone, and speaker input jack that works on most modern computers. This product cost a third as much. :)
I owned these headphones for about a month and they are awesome. If you are a gamer these are a must to have really damm right scary especially when i was playing FEAR2. Quality confort a must product to have for your Gaming machine.
the quality is pretty good for the price. I bought mine in mid October and the microphone has already stopped working. I cannot seem to be able to find a replacement. Since the microphone is detachable I thought it would be easily replaceable.
